What is Co-operative Young Leaders?
Co-operative Young Leaders is a week long summer camp for young people ages 13 to 18. This unique experiential learning program brings together youth from across Ontario, to learn and play in a safe and secure environment. CYL empowers youth to be explorers, trailblazers and visionaries, while equipping them with the change-making tools and skills they need to succeed in the world. Bringing together youth with established co-operative mentors creates a relationship that embraces and enhances their leadership potential. Participants develop self-confidence, learn from inspiring guest speakers, and have fun with traditional camp activities. You can learn more about the Co-operative Young Leaders Program and their 2024 dates by visiting their website.
Since its inception in 1967, over 3,500 young people have gone through the program, thanks to all the amazing co-operatives and credit unions that have supported it over the years!
CYL has three main goals:
- To provide youth with a fantastic summer camp experience in a safe and secure environment.
- To develop leadership skills and foster self-confidence and self-awareness.
- To create a stronger awareness of co-operatives and the principles that guide our sector.
