AGRIS Co-operative Ltd. has a Summer Project Manager Intern opportunity for a motivated Student to join our AGRIS Team. As a Summer Project Manager Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a project utilizing and testing drone technologies and develop your agriculture knowledge with hands on experience, as well as gain an understand careers available at AGRIS.
What will you be responsible for:
- Provide an exceptional customer experience at every interaction
- Working with Senior Agronomist and Crop Specialists to identify farm participants
- Work closely with the AIS Specialist on coordinating GIS mapping activities including account management of various satellite image companies.
- Deliver results to customers in a timely manner
- Entry level new skills development opportunity also includes:
- Become proficient in creating topographic surface maps from collected imagery. Develop concave / convex surface features for nitrogen management.
- Other agronomic duties as required including collecting plant tissue, weed samples, and nitrate Nitrogen soil samples.
- Support of agronomic recommendations with a focus on the Whole Farm Plan
- Awareness of sustainability issues such as 4R Stewardship, Class 12 Pesticide rules
- Extended hours, as required, during the busy season
Project highlights:
- Create:
- Test and leverage a spray drone or other drone technology on Test Plot fields.
- Will involve a lot of problem-solving assessment and analysis work
- Developing connections with identified farmers and understanding of their crops.
- In season NDVI maps
- Late season Crop assessments
Requirements for this Job:
- Knowledge of agronomy, fertilizer, chemical, seed, and grain marketing
- Maintain a Valid Drivers License
- Travel as required to support Farm Owner & Branch needs across AGRIS trading area Drone license or obtain one by writing the online test at Transport Canada
- Learn to operate the Phantom 4 drone or other Drones as required and sensors (in house training)
- Become proficient in using the cloud-based services to perform analytics (training by service provider)
