AGRIS Co-operative Ltd. has an opportunity for a full-time Health and Safety Coordinator to join our AGRIS team. As Health and Safety Coordinator, you report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for maintaining and promoting the company’s occupational health and safety policies, programs, and procedures, as well as assessing and improving operational work processes, operations environmental and creating awareness of safe working practices across our AGRIS locations. What will you be responsible for:
- Provide an exceptional customer experience at every interaction.
- Support the oversiteand provide expertise in relation to the Canada Occupational Health & Safety(OH&S) program and ensure applicable OH&S legislative regulations andcompany standards are maintained
- Chairs the Senior Health & SafetyCommittee and workwith the members to ensureoccupational health and safety is prioritized and effectively practicedthroughout all areas of the organization
- Creates recommendations,implements, evaluates, and maintains workplace health and safety policies andprocedures in conjunction with theSenior Safety Committee and AGRIS Co-operative Leadership.
- Perform regular job site audit’s and inspections
- Update and maintainall H&S training requirements, leveraging the training systems, programsavailable and through regular monthly Health and Safety meeting records.
- Work closely withsite supervisors and safety committee representatives to complete hazard assessments as required, as well as to implement policy and programs on site.
- Ensuring the compilation, updating and distribution of health and safety relateddocumentation as required on site.
- Performregular safety checks of equipment, vehicle(s), etc. as may be required tosupport inspections and site safety.
- Supportthe investigationall incidents for accuracy and causation (near misses, injury, property damage,utility contacts and 3rd party damage claims)
- Educateand ensure steps and procedures required in case of an accident are in placeand known by all staff to ensure they follow the detailed procedures asstipulated.
Requirements for this Job:
- Related professional education from arecognized college or university.
- An agricultural background is preferred.
- Occupational Health and Safety experience witha sound knowledge of the Canada Labour Code, the Workplace Safety and InsuranceAct, Ontario Highway Traffic Act, Canadian Environmental Protection Act, andmust be familiar with relevant health, safety and environmental regulations, standards,and guidelines.
- Ability towork irregular hours.
- A valid driver’slicense is required.
- Preferencegiven to individuals with CRSP or other health and safety certifications
- Proveninterpersonal, organizational, and planning skills.
