CHATHAM, ONTARIO, January 15, 2024 – At its well-attended virtual annual meeting 4 directors were returned to the AGRIS board of directors, Stan Gillier, John Nooyen, Allan Parks, and Cameron McWilliam. 1 new director, Ted Scott, was elected to the Board. Ted lives in the Highgate area and along with his wife Tara they operate Double T Farms, a cash crop and mixed livestock operation. Ted also supports the local community as a volunteer firefighter at Orford Station 10 and has held several executive positions with the Station 10 Firefighter Association. In total AGRIS has a board of 14 directors.
At the meeting, Board President John Nooyen announced that patronage of $750,000 will be distributed in mid-February. This patronage when combined with interest paid on owner investment brings the total return on investment to the local owner/investors to over $1.2 Million.
During his Annual Report, President John Nooyen stated, “with extreme market volatility affecting everything at AGRIS the board remains focused on its long-term strategic plan. While year to year results are variable, our commitment to enhancing the success and sustainability of our owners is unwavering”. John also recognized the service of Peter Dieleman from Wallacetown who chose to retire from the board after service for 9 years.
The new AGRIS Board met immediately after the Annual Meeting to elect is officers for 2024. Allan Parks of Amherstburg was elected President, Cameron McWilliam of Dutton was elected as Vice President and Pat Vanheule from Thamesville as Secretary. The board also showed its appreciation to John Nooyen for his leadership to the board during the 7 years he served as President.
